THE CAMP

 

Sala’s Camp is a tented camp that combines tradition with comfort and it’s a model of understated, intimate luxury. Situated in the southern, wilder corner of Kenya’s mighty Masai Mara game reserve close to the confluence of the Sand and Keekorok Rivers – an idyllic geographical feature that attracts teeming wildlife. Sala’s Camp location is a big draw, close to Tanzania with wonderful views of the Serengeti National Park, it is one of the first camps in the Mara to witness the legendary annual migration of wildebeest, which thunders by from June to September each year.

 

Sala’s Camp also offers the best of the Masai Mara’s wildlife and birdlife year round. Sala’s Camp first hosted guests in 2004, it has become renowned for combining an authentic safari experience with hospitality and fine dining. Sala’s Camp is owned and operated by The Safari Collection, and can be booked for the night or as part of a complete tailor-made safari.

Sala’s Camp is about 265km almost due west of Nairobi.

 

ACCESS

 

5 Hr Drive form Nairobi by road, via B3. 1 Hr flying from Wilson Airport to Keekorok Airstirp.

LUXURY TENTS

Sala’s Camp offers space, comfort and great views as well as an amazing safari experience. We can accommodate up to 18 guests in seven luxury tents including a spacious honeymoon tent, which can also accommodate a family of up to four.

 

The Camp’s interiors are elegant and comfortable. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms with hot showers, baths, running water and flushing toilets. Our electricity is solar-powered and there is a standby generator for refrigeration and charging devices. Typically, after an exhilarating game drive, return to relax on your deck by your private plunge pool or meet up for sundowners by the campfire before enjoying dinner served under the stars.

DINING AND WINING

Sala’s Camp prides itself on its hospitality and all arrangements are made with meticulous care. All guests enjoy full-board during their stay, which includes all meals and most drinks, excluding champagne and specially imported wines and spirits.

SUNDOWNER: Experience the spectacular African sunset with your favourite cocktail and specially prepared canapés around a log fire with a short night game drive back to the lodge for dinner.

 

BUSH BREAKFAST: For that wild experience, we do organise Bush breakfast for a chance to enjoy your freshly prepared breakfast, al fresco, in the middle of the plains, surrounded by wildlife.

ACTIVITIES

 

The Masai Mara is one the world’s most prolific game areas and home to the ‘big 5’, with mind blowing sightings year round. At Sala’s Camp we offer a variety of excursions, and the resident big cats are easily stopped at close quarters. We also offer first class bird-watching and star-gazing where you can learn about the formations in clear, unpolluted skies. Sala’s Camp has a special program for children where our spotters teach young guests the secrets of the bush.
