THE CAMP

 

Campi ya Kanzi is an award-winning boutique ecolodge in the Chyulu Hills of southern Kenya, in Ernest Hemingway’s “Green Hills of Africa”.

 

This camp is the only Kenya luxury safari lodge on a Maasai-owned reserve spanning 283,000 acres of pristine wilderness. The Hills volcanic summits are covered in a rich green cloud forest, home to a completely different array of trees, flowers, insects, birds and mammals. This special Maasai land supports amazing wildlife, with an immense biodiversity, including zebra, giraffe, antelopes and apex predators like lions and leopards for game viewing.

Campi ya Kanzi is about 220 km from Nairobi. It’s in Southern Kenya, next to Tanzania, enjoys the exclusive tourism use of Kuku Group Ranches, a 283,000 acres in the Tsavo Amboseli eco-system.

Kanzi House is composed by a Villa with 4 bedrooms and by the Pool Cottage. They can be booked individually (Kanzi House for 4 guests, the Pool Cottage for 2 guests). The whole of Kanzi House (Private Villa with 4 bedrooms, Pool Cottage with 1 bedroom) can also be booked in exclusivity.

SUNDOWNER: Experience the spectacular African sunset with your favourite cocktail and specially prepared canapés around a log fire with a short night game drive back to the lodge for dinner.

 

BUSH BREAKFAST: For that wild experience, we do organise Bush breakfast for a chance to enjoy your freshly prepared breakfast, al fresco, in the middle of the plains, surrounded by wildlife.

ACTIVITIES

 

A safari with us will mean exploring Maasai wilderness with a Maasai tracker, being able to walk with him and learning how to read footprints and identify scats; it will also mean hiking into the cloud forest of the Chyulu Hills; it will mean seeing many different species of wildlife –but in complete privacy, not surrounded by other tourists.

 

You will be able to choose from these diverse options:

  • Game drives in open Land Rover, with your professional guide and Maasai tracker
  • Walk, escorted by your guide and by your tracker, in the cloud forest, exploring a unique habitat
  • Walk, escorted by your guide and by your tracker, in the savanna or to look-out hills

  • Visit your Maasai tracker’s home, in his village, to learn about Maasai culture

  • Dine in a huge cave, where the Maasai where hiding the cattle they were raiding from the Wakamba, a tribe living on the other side of the Chyulu Hills.
