Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge welcomes you with a peaceful location amidst the rich wildlife and unsurpassed tranquility of Lake Manyara National Park. The lake is home to over 300 migratory birds including flamingoes, long-crested eagles and grey-headed kingfisher; our lodge is designed to mimic this extraordinary birdlife, with an architectural motif featuring swooping avian curves and vibrantly coloured wall frescoes depicting the intricacy of bird migratory patterns.

Housed in circular two-storey “rondavels”, our accommodation pays homage to tradition, while also offering contemporary perks. LOCATION

 

The lodge is 130 kilometres from Arusha. Located atop the 900-metre Mto wa Mbu escarpment in Northern Tanzania, and boasts unparalleled views of Lake Manyara National Park.

 

ACCESS

 

2.5 Hr Drive form Arusha by road. For those traveling by air, Manyara airstrip is adjacent to the lodge, and a ‘meet and greet’ and transfer service is offered.

ROOMS

STANDARD ROOM

Spread along the edge of the cliff to allow for the most incredible views, our accommodation consists of circular, double-storey, whitewashed “rondavels” (traditional circular buildings with conical thatched roofs), which include their own small veranda. The interior décor echoes the blue of the lake and the pink of its flamingos. Behind each bed hangs a spectacular hand-woven rug, while furnishings and fittings reflect traditional Maasai beadwork.

LOSIMINGORI SUITE

Treat yourself to an exclusive stay in this elegant suite, which overlooks Lake Manyara and Losimingori Mountain. The Losimingori Suite offers a level of sophistication rarely seen in safari lodges. Decor throughout the accommodation features colour palette of sky blue and dusky pink, echoing the hues of the lake below. The spacious bedroom is impeccably appointed with a king-sized double bed with a walk-in mosquito net, sumptuous furnishings, a dressing area and a marble ensuite bathroom. A separate sitting room provides panoramic views and offers fully stocked mini-bar, a digital multi-channel TV and a direct-dial telephone. The room also boasts a generous balcony overlooking the “vanishing horizon” (infinity) pool. 24-hour room service is available, and fruit and wine is laid out to welcome you. The suite is set slightly apart from our other accommodations, and enjoys its own private access.

In addition to our restaurant, we offer extraordinary bush dining opportunities; allow us to arrange breakfasts, lunches, dinners, cocktails, wedding anniversaries and birthday celebrations at one of a number of dedicated sites.

Choose from a broad selection of old- and new-world wines, as well as local and imported beers and spirits. We also offer a wide range of soft drinks, fruit juices and and herbal infusions.

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

 

Breakfast is presented buffet-style and features global fare, complemented by the finest Tanzanian coffee and tea. We also offer a full English breakfast – as well as the opportunity for guests to watch their meal being prepared by the chef in an exciting live cooking environment.

 

Our buffet lunch typically includes meat, poultry, fish and vegetarian options. Table d’hôte dinner menus feature a salad buffet, soup, an entrée, dessert, cheese and biscuits and tea or coffee. Vegetarian options are always available. The majority of our meat and dairy products, as well as our fruits and vegetables are sourced from the communities that surround Lake Manyara National Park. Guests are invited to learn how to cook and serve traditional dishes as well.
