THE CAMP

 

Set on a bend in the Ntiakitiak River in the 35,000-acre Olare Motorogi Conservancy and bordering Kenya’s Maasai Mara Reserve, Mara Plains is a stunning and intimate safari camp in one of the most iconic wildlife destinations on the planet.

 

Set in middle of one of the planet’s richest ecosystems, Mara Plains’ design honors rather than upstages what nature has provided. The decor pays homage to the essence of East Africa; Swahili heritage is reflected in large wooden doors from the island of Lamu, and accents of red and purple honour the great Maasai chiefs and warriors. Add to this cultural melting pot a nod to the colonial era, with rich leathers, copper and brass used in campaign-style furniture and you have a lavish yet comfortable atmosphere that complements, rather than overwhelms the surrounding wilderness.

Mara Plains Camp is about 300 km almost due west of Nairobi.

 

ACCESS

 

6 Hr Drive form Nairobi by road, via B3. 1 Hr flying from Wilson Airport to Olare Orok Airstirp.

LUXURY TENTS

Fully inclusive of all scheduled activities, meals, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including imported spirits and champagne. Park fees and flights are additional.

 

Mara Plains Camp can accommodate 14 guests sharing, plus an additional guide’s tent as required.

 

Children from 8 years are welcome and can be accommodated in our family suite.

SUNDOWNER: Experience the spectacular African sunset with your favourite cocktail and specially prepared canapés around a log fire with a short night game drive back to the lodge for dinner.

 

BUSH BREAKFAST: For that wild experience, we do organise Bush breakfast for a chance to enjoy your freshly prepared breakfast, al fresco, in the middle of the plains, surrounded by wildlife.

ACTIVITIES

 

Early morning, late afternoon and night game drives in an open, 4×4 vehicle as well as the option of getting to know more about the local Maasai Community. Balloon flights across the Maasai Mara can be arranged but are at an additional cost.
